Job Overview

You’ll be part of the dedicated Amazon team that is the first stop on the journey from the warehouse. Our fast-paced, physical roles take place in a sortation center. You will be sorting, scanning, and stacking packages on pallets, helping to get customer orders ready for delivery. Because most of the shifts are part-time, you are in control of your schedule — choose shifts that work best for you now and adjust your schedule in the future, as needed.

The path of the solar eclipse in 2024 will traverse North America, providing an extraordinary celestial event for observers in certain regions. The totality path will start in Mexico and pass through several states in the United States, including Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine, before crossing into Canada. This event is eagerly anticipated by astronomers and skywatchers alike, offering a rare opportunity to witness the awe-inspiring phenomenon of a total solar eclipse.

Here are some details of the path:

The path of the eclipse begins in Sinaloa, Mexico, and then travels northeast across the country.

Except during the brief total phase of a total solar eclipse, when the Moon completely blocks the Sun’s bright face, it is not safe to look directly at the Sun without specialized eye protection for solar viewing. Viewing any part of the bright Sun through a camera lens, binoculars, or a telescope without a special-purpose solar filter secured over the front of the optics will instantly cause severe eye injury.

When watching the partial phases of the solar eclipse directly with your eyes, which happens before and after totality, you must look through safe solar viewing glasses (“eclipse glasses”) or a safe handheld solar viewer at all times. You can also use an indirect viewing method, such as a pinhole projector.

New York Times to take legal action against Scots language Wordle Game

Josh Wardle's daily puzzle game Wordle arrives in 2021. Millions of people loved playing Wordle, and thousands of developers wanted to create games like Wordle. Variations such as Nerdle (a Wordle for math), World (a Wordle for geography), Herdle (a Wordle for music), and Taylored (a Wordle for Taylor Swift fans) quickly emerged.

With a lot of clever touches on the Wordle formula, there are plenty of Wordle-like models that offer an almost identical Wordle experience without variation (Infinite Wordle is a version of Wordle that you can play more than once a day). The New York Times, which bought the Word from Ward in 2022, is now beating some of them.

As Jason Koebler reported on 404, The New York Times has filed a DMCA notice against coder Chase Wackerfuss, who created a Word clone called React and posted the code on GitHub. And where it starts to snowball, the DMCA notice doesn't just target React, but all Wordl clones that have been "forked" from the open-source React repository — and the number of forks is 1,900 or more.

There are a lot of games in a single DMCA notice. It apparently involves a clone where the answer to every new day is ALWAYS CHUNK.

A spokesperson for the NYT said: "The Times has no issue with individuals creating similar word games that do not infringe The Times’s 'Wordle' trademarks or copyrighted gameplay.

"The Times took action against a GitHub user and others who shared his code to defend its intellectual property rights in Wordle. The user created a 'Wordle clone' project that instructed others how to create a knock-off version of The Times’s Wordle game featuring many of the same copyrighted elements.

"As a result, hundreds of websites began popping up with knock-off 'Wordle' games that used The Times’s 'Wordle' trademark and copyrighted gameplay without authorisation or permission. GitHub provided the user with an opportunity to alter his code and remove references to Wordle, but he declined."

If you're looking to upgrade your home cinema setup, Pioneer's two new AVRs should fit the bill nicely. Both the VSX-835 and VSX-535 support Dolby Atmos, HDMI 2.1, Bluetooth and 4K/120, making them a boon or gamers. They both play nice with 8K content too – not that useful now, admittedly, but it means they're future-proofed.

They both support Dolby Surround sound, and are compatible with the HDR10, HLG, Dolby Vision and BT.2020 formats of HDR.

The VSX-835 is the more premium of the two, supporting either 7.2 or 5.2.2 arrangements (the VSX-535 supports 3.2 or 3.2.2 setups). It has IMAX Enhanced Certification, and supports DTS Virtual:X and 4:4:4 colour space as well as its previously mentioned skills.

Pioneer's IMAX Enhanced Mode is optimised to meet strict performance standards concerning colour, brightness, contrast and audio fidelity, and aims to deliver content exactly as the director intended.

With both Dolby Atmos and its DTS:X rival, the VSX-835 is better equipped for immersive sound. DTS:X automatically adapts the audio to the existing channels and speaker setups, so you don't need to follow a specific layout. And if you don't have upwards-firing or rear speakers, DTS Virtual:X will create the effect virtually (though it's never quite as good as the real thing). Atmos does this too – with Dolby Atmos Height Virtualiser – so you should get enveloping audio whatever your media formats or speaker arrangement.

Both receivers use Pioneer's auto-tuning tech to calibrate to your room. A custom microphone compensates for differences in speaker size, level and distance, and equalises the response. According to the press release For the client segment, Intel is expected to deliver updates to its Arrow Lake architecture, which is set to launch as a mobile and desktop platform at some point.

Pat Gelsinger, CEO of Intel, is confirmed to deliver a keynote speech at the event, focusing on "bringing AI Everywhere" through Intel's next-generation products.

Taishan V120 can be manufactured on SMIC's 7 nm process tip. The Geekbench 6 result posted on social media doesn't identify the exact Huawei server CPU model, but speculations point to the upcoming Kunpeng 930 chip.

In the benchmark, the Taishan V120 CPU running at 2.9 GHz scored 1527 in the single-core test. It's almost on par with AMD's EPYC 7413 server CPU based on the Gen 3 architecture, which boosts up to 3.6 GHz and scores 1538.

This matches the single-threaded performance of Intel's Coffee Lake-based Xeon E-2136 from 2018, scoring 1553 points even though the Intel chip reaches a boost speed of 4.5 GHz.

The Taishan V120 core first appeared in Huawei's Kirin 9000 smartphone SoC in 2020. Using the core in server CPUs will allow Huawei to achieve single-threaded performance that rivals AMD's last-generation EPYC Milan and Intel's older server Skylake.

Multi-threaded benchmarks will be required to fully gauge the overall performance of the Kunpeng 930 when it launches. Huawei has continued to innovate its ARM-based server CPU designs despite facing restrictions on manufacturing and selling chips internationally due to its US listing in 2019.

Utilizing these powerful abilities, some other strategies have been sneaking into Helldiverse 2 lately. Helldivers 2 has a Game Master. Recruits may be using these skills to test other players before imparting them.

Elkato's Stream Deck, meanwhile, has become a tool for quickly calling up strategies, as mapping commands for a bunker buster to a single button helps take some of the stress out of the fight for freedom.

Unfortunately, Helldivers 2 is not currently available and has not been announced for Xbox Series X.

While there's always a chance for things to change, based on the information available as of today (March 6, 2024), getting Helldivers 2 on Xbox Series X seems highly unlikely.

NASA Open Astronaut Applications, opens call for next class of explorers

NASA welcomed its new generation of Artemis astronauts in a ceremony Tuesday at the Johnson Space Center. 10 astronaut graduates are now qualified for flight missions.

Future missions to the Moon, Mars and beyond will require more adventurers to join the teams to explore the universe." That's exciting news! On March 5, 2024, NASA celebrated the graduation of 12 new astronauts, 10 from the US and 2 from the United Arab Emirates

Astronaut graduates selected for training in 2021 are selected from a pool of more than 12,000 applicants and have successfully completed more than two years of required basic training that includes spacewalking, robotics, space station systems and more.

Graduates may be assigned to missions aboard the International Space Station, future commercial space stations, and the Artemis mission missions to the Moon in preparation for Mars.

Two UAE (United Arab Emirates) astronauts, Nora Almadrushi and Mohammed Almullah of the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center, trained alongside their NASA counterparts for the past two years and participated in the graduation ceremony.

This is part of NASA's partnership with the United Arab Emirates, including other activities that support groundbreaking science and research on Earth and in space, thanks to the collaboration with the International Space Station.

Why Bitcoin Increase Today?

Bitcoin is on a vertical tear, continuing its rapid resurgence and getting close to breaking its all-time high.

The digital token on Monday climbed 8% to $67,310, well above its $44,000 valuation at the start of the year and less than $2,000 away from surpassing its November 2021 record high of around $69,000.

What's fueling the rally? Cryptocurrency watchers say bitcoin is soaring in part because demand is rising on so-called spot bitcoin exchange traded funds. The ETFs, which allow investors to dabble in crypto in a less riskier way than ever before, has attracted an huge influx of cash this year, experts said.

"Investors are getting turned on to the fact that bitcoin can be treated as an uncorrelated asset, which makes it extremely attractive for portfolio diversification," Joel Kruger, a market strategist at digital currencies exchange LMAX Group, told CBS MoneyWatch.

A spot bitcoin ETF allows investors to gain direct exposure to bitcoin without holding it. Unlike regular bitcoin ETFs, in which bitcoin futures contracts are the underlying asset, bitcoins are the underlying asset of a spot bitcoin ETF. Each spot bitcoin ETF is managed by a firm that issues shares of its own bitcoin holdings purchased through other holders or through an authorized cryptocurrency exchange. The shares are listed on a traditional stock exchange.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission approved the sale of spot bitcoin ETFs in January. Since then, investors have deposited some $7.35 billion into the 11 different funds available, reported Bloomberg on Monday. Some of the world's largest institutional investors, including BlackRock and Fidelity Investments, now offer spot bitcoin ETFs.

Bitcoin's price rally began months before in 2023: Its price soared to a 19-month high in December to about $41,000. Analysts at the time credited the surge to three main factors, including anticipation of the SEC's approval of the spot ETFs, anticipation of Fed rate cuts and its upcoming halving event, in which the reward for mining bitcoin is cut in half.

To be sure, bitcoin's ongoing price surge doesn't make the cryptocurrency any less volatile, as Laila Maidan, investing correspondent at Insider, told CBS News in December, when the cryptocurrency broke $41,000, which was its highest value in 19 months at the time.

"It doesn't mean the crypto is going to skyrocket and stay high," Maidan said. "It's still volatile and there's a lot of people who will always trade it."

Still, bitcoin's resurgence comes as welcome news to crypto investors, many of whom saw their assets plummet in value in 2022 after the collapse of FTX and other crypto exchanges. As the world's largest cryptocurrency, both in terms of trading volume and most mined, bitcoin is often looked to by financial analyst as a gauge of the overall health of the crypto industry.

Supreme Court Rejects Trump State's Efforts to Ban

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Monday unanimously restored Donald Trump to 2024 presidential primary ballots, rejecting state attempts to hold the Republican former president accountable for the Capitol riot.

The justices ruled a day before the Super Tuesday primaries that states cannot invoke a post-Civil War constitutional provision to keep presidential candidates from appearing on ballots. That power resides with Congress, the court wrote in an unsigned opinion.

Trump posted on his social media network shortly after the decision was released: “BIG WIN FOR AMERICA!!!”

The outcome ends efforts in Colorado, Illinois, Maine and elsewhere to kick Trump, the front-runner for his party’s nomination, off the ballot because of his attempts to undo his loss in the 2020 election to Democrat Joe Biden, culminating in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol.

Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold expressed disappointment in the court’s decision as she acknowledged that “Donald Trump is an eligible candidate on Colorado’s 2024 Presidential Primary.”

Trump’s case was the first at the Supreme Court dealing with a provision of the 14th Amendment that was adopted after the Civil War to prevent former officeholders who “engaged in insurrection” from holding office again.

Colorado’s Supreme Court, in a first-of-its-kind ruling, had decided that the provision, Section 3, could be applied to Trump, who that court found incited the Capitol attack. No court before had applied Section 3 to a presidential candidate.

Some election observers have warned that a ruling requiring congressional action to implement Section 3 could leave the door open to a renewed fight over trying to use the provision to disqualify Trump in the event he wins the election. In one scenario, a Democratic-controlled Congress could try to reject certifying Trump’s election on Jan. 6, 2025, under the clause.

The issue then could return to the court, possibly in the midst of a full-blown constitutional crisis.

While all nine justices agreed that Trump should be on the ballot, there was sharp disagreement from the three liberal members of the court and a milder disagreement from conservative Justice Amy Coney Barrett that their colleagues went too far in determining what Congress must do to disqualify someone from federal office.

Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan and Ketanji Brown Jackson said they agreed that allowing the Colorado decision to stand could create a “chaotic state by state patchwork” but said they disagreed with the majority’s finding a disqualification for insurrection can only happen when Congress enacts legislation. “In doing so, the majority shuts the door on other potential means of federal enforcement. We cannot join an opinion that decides momentous and difficult issues unnecessarily, and we therefore concur only in the judgment,” they wrote.

The court did not delve into the politically fraught issue of insurrection in its opinion Monday.

Both sides had requested fast work by the court, which heard arguments less than a month ago, on Feb. 8. The justices seemed poised then to rule in Trump’s favor.

Trump had been kicked off the ballots in Colorado, Maine and Illinois, but all three rulings were on hold awaiting the Supreme Court’s decision.

The case is the court’s most direct involvement in a presidential election since Bush v. Gore, a decision delivered a quarter-century ago that effectively handed the 2000 election to Republican George W. Bush. And it’s just one of several cases involving Trump directly or that could affect his chances of becoming president again, including a case scheduled for arguments in late April about whether he can be criminally prosecuted on election interference charges, including his role in the Jan. 6 Capitol attack. The timing of the high court’s intervention has raised questions about whether Trump will be tried before the November election.

The arguments in February were the first time the high court had heard a case involving Section 3. The two-sentence provision, intended to keep some Confederates from holding office again, says that those who violate oaths to support the Constitution are barred from various positions including congressional offices or serving as presidential electors. But it does not specifically mention the presidency.

Conservative and liberal justices questioned the case against Trump. Their main concern was whether Congress must act before states can invoke the 14th Amendment. There also were questions about whether the president is covered by the provision.

The lawyers for Republican and independent voters who sued to remove Trump’s name from the Colorado ballot had argued that there is ample evidence that the events of Jan. 6 constituted an insurrection and that it was incited by Trump, who had exhorted a crowd of his supporters at a rally outside the White House to “fight like hell.” They said it would be absurd to apply Section 3 to everything but the presidency or that Trump is somehow exempt. And the provision needs no enabling legislation, they argued.

Trump’s lawyers mounted several arguments for why the amendment can’t be used to keep him off the ballot. They contended the Jan. 6 riot wasn’t an insurrection and, even if it was, Trump did not go to the Capitol or join the rioters. The wording of the amendment also excludes the presidency and candidates running for president, they said. Even if all those arguments failed, they said, Congress must pass legislation to reinvigorate Section 3.

The case was decided by a court that includes three justices appointed by Trump when he was president. They have considered many Trump-related cases in recent years, declining to embrace his bogus claims of fraud in the 2020 election and refusing to shield tax records from Congress and prosecutors in New York.

The 5-4 decision in Bush v. Gore case more than 23 years ago was the last time the court was so deeply involved in presidential politics. Justice Clarence Thomas is the only member of the court who was on the bench then. Thomas has ignored calls by some Democratic lawmakers to step aside from the Trump case because his wife, Ginni, supported Trump’s effort to overturn the 2020 election results and attended the rally that preceded the storming of the Capitol by Trump supporters.
